Educations is, without a doubt, the most important driver for people’s progress, development and wellbeing. While this conviction is generally broadly shared in Chile, the quality of our education system continues to be one of our country’s pending challenges.
For this reason, beginning in 2006, Fundación Educacional Oportunidad has developed innovative strategies aimed at providing support for early childhood education. This is achieved by the “Un Buen Comienzo” program, which aims to influence young children from the moment in which they are most susceptible to learning, and by providing them with early English instruction through the “We Learn” program.
To carry out these initiatives, the Foundation’s team has partnered and worked with teachers and administrators of public institutions; the national and international academic sector; authorities of the public sector and with other civil society organizations towards the common goal of defining the actions, methodologies and practices that can measurably improve early childhood learning.
This collaborative work allows us all to generate resources that are freely available to the school system and that can serve as background data which enriches investigations and generates evidence for the development of better practices.
I am very proud of the road that we have travelled. I also have the hope that the Continuous Quality Improvement Networks generated at the Foundation allow us to continue nurturing the work of educators, teachers, assistants and administrative staff, for the great benefit of the children and young people of our country.
